CLASSROOM MATERIALS

The world has suffered a considerable depletion of its resources because of men’s unsustainable consuming practices. Many times, cheap products and services come to the expense of the exploitation of humans and animals alike. It is my goal for me and my students to be part of the solution of the growing world issues instead of being part of the problem. It is for this reason I invite you to consider being an ethical consumer when putting together your material’s list so that you cause the most good and the least harm to people, animals, and the environment.

Ethical consumerism is the intentional purchase of products and services that the customer considers to be made ethically. This may mean with minimal harm to or exploitation of humans, animals and/or the natural environment. Ethical consumerism is practiced through 'positive buying' favoring ethical products and presenting a moral boycott to those products which are the result of human or animal exploitation, as well as environmental degradation.

Some labels you may want to consider are:

Organic Toxic Chemicals Free, Recycled,  Vegan, Repurposed, Non Tested on Animals, Made with Post Consumer Material,  All Man Made Materials, Faux Fur, Fake/Imitation Leather, Locally grown and produced

Note: You don’t need to buy new stuff is you already have some materials that can be re-used or repurposed.
