LEARN & REFLECT :: Straight Edge

Read and learn what STRAIGHT EDGE is about.

Straight Edge is not a religion but a philosophy, a personal choice, and a lifestyle where individuals:

- Do not drink alcohol
- Do not use any type of drugs
- Do not use caffeine or any other stimulants
- Do not hook-up or engage in casual sex with others.
- Do not participate in any form of animal use, abuse, cruelty, or exploitation.

Adopting the straight edge lifestyle put individuals in control of their own lives; it held them accountable for personal responsibility. Straight Edgers consciously follow a path that allows them to take care of themselves and their personal responsibilities without letting outside influences interfere.

ON YOUR OWN:

You can google the term STRAIGHT EDGE for history and additional details. Warning, when researching you may find popular language that may result offensive to some depending on the consulted sources. Reading discretion is advised.

I- Find how did the Straight Edge movement began, and why they use an X as their symbol.

II- After reading and learning about the STRAIGHT EDGE lifestyle express your personal opinion about it.

You can watch the following documentary with Spanish Subtitles to learn more about Straight Edgers.

This blog is one of the online companions to our class.

Visit often to stay informed, to post assignments, and to communicate with me.

On both sides of the blog you will find links to some of the sites you will need to use in my class, resources to study, and other suggested sites I think there may be of your interest.

There maybe blog entries that will require for you to post your reflection of what was posted in the form of a comment. You will need to have your own google account to be able to do that.
