GRAPHIC CONTENT, fair warning!

I am a far from perfect individual who tries to adjust, sometimes successfully and sometimes not, to the light of knowledge he has received. I am probably off-time, I am ready for a society that revere, protect, preserve, conserve, maintain, and improves its environment, and consume its resources in a sustainable, and humane way. I oppose to all the ideals (religious and non religious) that divide, segregate, deam inferior or superior, alienate, bully, disrespect, hate, or discriminate other people, instead I am ready for a society where humans and non humans live in peaceful coexistence.

I believe other sentient beings should live their lives free in their natural habitats, and free from human use in any form (as food, as clothing, as slaves of entertainment, as objects of experimentation, as traction, or any other use that restrain them from living free.)

Different from humans, who have strong ethical and moral laws that legally protect them, some animals who are not considered domestic, companion, or endangered have not the protection humans have due to the wealthy and powerful systemic exploitation system that profit from animals. It is because of that that I decided to join millions of people around the world who have agreed to give their voice to those who cannot defend themselves. Please read bellow.

Disclaimer: If you see I share a video, photo, or link whether in class, or in any of my personal social networks or internet presence that show horrific truths about cruelty to people or animals, please understand I don’t enjoy it, is not fun to me, and for sure is not my intention to offend, make you feel uncomfortable, or mad. The only reason I do this is to offer my voice to the voiceless and spread what I consider to be just, and humane.

As a Humane Educator and a concern citizen, I have the moral responsibility to share with my students the most pressing issues of our times, to inform them so that they can make informed choices that can do the most good and the least harm to people, animals, and the environment through their daily actions.  When this content is shown, and it is known that it contains graphic materials, a warning for viewing discretion will be made and the student will choose to watch or not at his/her own discretion.

You will be given a parent and personal awareness form to sign and return to me.

DISCUSSIONS

To all my students discussing topics in class or commenting on any of my social media posts:

I welcome and encourage open discussion of controversial topics and accept the full expression of personal views even when they differ from mine. For online content I reserve the sole right to review, edit and/or delete any comments I perceived to be inappropriate.  Online comments including but not limited to the following may be deleted, edited, or reported according to its nature.

1. Abusive or hurtful comments about myself or another participant

2. Off-topic and redundant comments (this includes promotion of events, groups, pages, Web sites, organizations and programs not related to the topic)

3. Comments that use foul language or "hate speech" (for example, including but not limited to ideological-philosophical-political-religious-spiritual believes; racial, ethnic or gender bashing language)

4. Personal attacks or defamatory statements or comments (i.e., making negative personal or untrue comments about me or a participant), instead of just criticizing his/her posting, opinion or comments

5. Comments that violate my privacy, the one of the participants in my postings, or any other person present or absent

These points will also be observed while participating in in-class discussions.

Information provided  by me when it is not supported by proven facts represent my own personal opinion or that of those I may agree, or disagree with.  My believes system are constantly evolving to the light of new knowledge and understanding of the world around me, and what I say or believe in the present, does not necessarily mean it is what I would say or believe in any moment future from the moment where my statement was pronounced.

Even when I may share a personal opinion or believe, it must be clear it is not my intention to proselytize to anybody to become follower of myself or any of the public institutions or organizations I chose to belong to. If someone chooses to attend a public institution or organization where I happen to attend, it is that person’s sole decision to do so.

I understand that social media is a 24/7 medium; however, my moderation capabilities are not. I may not see every inappropriate comment right away, and I am trusting in the maturity of my students to ignore personal attacks and negative speech or respond politely. Please see me in person or private message me if you have any questions.

USE OF CONTROVERSIAL TOPICS AND CRITICAL THINKING.

College Board and Global Issues:

"The College Board is delighted to collaborate with University of Cambridge International Examinations to create a program that engages high school students in some of the most challenging issues facing our world today," said Trevor Packer, senior vice president of Advanced Placement and College Readiness for the College Board. "The AP | Cambridge Capstone Program — with its concentration on research methodology, global issues and challenges, and team collaborationwill enable motivated high school students to take their advanced studies to the next level."
Exploring a specific topic of global relevance. Topics includes the following: alternatives to oil; endangered cultures; global climate change; integration and multiculturalism; and medical ethics and priorities.
Process:
  • ability to design, plan and manage a research project;
  • collect and analyze information;
  • evaluate and make reasoned judgments;
  • and communicate their findings and conclusions.

"At MIT, we seek to develop the next generation of creative thinkers and leaders in this global society. Students who have challenged themselves with a rigorous curriculum, developed strong critical thinking skills, and have experience in interdisciplinary learning in a global context will be in a good position to take advantage of our educational opportunities. Based on what I’ve seen, I believe the AP | Cambridge Capstone Program will be an excellent preparation for success."
— Stuart Schmill, Dean of Admissions, Massachusetts Institute of Technology
