ANALYZE VISUAL (Period 8)

About the Art: The Pearblossom Highway is a real highway in California. David Hockney took pictures as he drove along it, and then he put the photographs together to make this photo collage. On the right side, it shows what drivers see; on the left side, what passengers see.

Interpret and Respond
1- Why do you think Hockney put many photos together instead of taking just one photo of the highway?

    1-What is the road like?
    The road is like a simple road with normal things.

    2- What do the signs tell or show people?
    The sign tell or show people that they have to stop at thw front couse there is a stop sign, and also sets california 138, i think that the sign tell us that we are close to california.

    3- What do you see on the grownd on the left of the road?
    On the grownd on the left of the road i saw letters that said Stop Ahead.

    1- What do you think the artist would say about the elements?
    I think that the things that the author would say about the element are that this is a lonely place that had a beach, and also the author maybe think that people drink a lot couse there are a lot of cans.

    2- How do they influence how people act?
    I think that this influence how people act couse it make people act like the view, if someone see those cans and all that drash in the road it would take a bad impression. But we have to respect how the road is.

    i think that is like a desert road.
    2- What do the signs tell or show people?
    The sign tell people that they have to stop at the front because there is a stop sign, and i think that it show that is near to california's city.
    3- What do you see on the grownd on the left of the road?
    On the grownd on the left of the road i can see trafic signals.

    1- What do you think the artist would say about the elements?
    the author would say about the element are that this is a lonely place maybe a desert,there are a lot of cans and bottles so we can infer that it is a hot place.

    2- How do they influence how people act?
    Influence how people act this because make people act like the view, if you see cans thrown on the road, you will not care not littering.

    the road is like a simple road to any other but with more details.

    What do the signs tell or show people?
    The sign tell or show people that first you can see the sign that tells you there is a stop later and next this sign there is another that says how many miles you get to California, and back there is a sign indicating the name of a street.

    What do you see on the ground on the left side of the road?
    what you see on the floor is garbage, bottles, packaging ... etc. It seems as if drink or eat and throw the garbage to the road.

    What do you think the artist would say about the elements?
    I think the artist wanted to say with a representation of the california highway, which is lonely, and has many signs, besides there are many people going through there and throw the garbage on the street.

    How do they influence how people act?
    I think that when people go to California and take the road they will have to set more in the landscape, the signs and if they refuse to vote at least they're going to think twice before throwing

    Desolate, empty, surrounded by signs and trash ..

    Show to stop and that is close California.

    Waste and garbage.

    The image shows a lonely place surrounded by signs and waste.

    Influences people because they must decide to fight this negative environment, in order to become better.

    1-What is the road like ?
    -For me it looks like an abandon road where theres nothing around there

    2-What do the signs tell or show people ?
    - The signs shows us where the traveling people has to stop by knowing the name of the city they are approaching at and the certain amount of miles they are left

    3-What do you see on the ground on the left of the road ?
    -i see some trash on the left side of the road, cans, cardboards, papers, bottles and all kind of trash

    -The artist would say that is an abandoned place, where the people that are going to the city just throw any kind of trash out of their cars

    2-How do they influence how people act ?
    -it influence people to keep throwing trash away without doing anything about it destroying the enviroment and making a trash place

    1-the road looks like a desert, without people, a place away of the cities also it looks very hot

    2-the signs tell you where you are,which direction can you take. also you must stop at the stop sign. can you see the name of the highway too

    3-i see a land with a lot damage. there are a lot trash on the street, some of captus

    considering do you think the artist would say about the elements

    1-the artist could say that people is nasty and disrespectful, they don't think about the damage to the environment

    2- maybe they are influence act this way because they don't have values or maybe can be because they don't think about the pollution

    1) 1- The road look like an abandoned street.
    2- The signs tell or show what do you have to do , and show what is the way to go to California, show where you are.
    3- I see a lot of trash like cans and a bottle of oil.
